In the second contribution from Ashwood School, Daniel Edwards gives us the lowdown on cooking 227 sausages in one hour for a group of seriously hungry Ashwood students, all in the name of DW2013.

Last week was Dukes Week. On Wednesday 7th of August the four students doing their Silver Award at Ashwood School cooked 227 yummy sausages in 1 hour for a sausage sizzle lunch. The Silvers needed to work as a team to get the sausages finished on time for the whole Secondary Department to eat.
Sam and Alex cooked the sausages and Aidan and I cut the sausages and placed them on the BBQ. We had to put a tray underneath the BBQ because the fat from the sausages was leaking. I had to help Mr Harper clean the grease from the BBQ. It was a grotty job.
After lunch the Secondary School had a Skills Showcase where we showed what we do in our elective and skill program. There were 9 electives we all had a look at. We looked at Scrapbooking, Drums, Bike Maintenance, Lego Construction, Board Games, iPads and laptops, Performing Arts and Art & Crafts. They were very entertaining to see.
On Thursday 8th August the students & staff at our school had a very well presented and delicious morning tea. Awards Victoria gave us the morning tea to say thank you for helping them collate the record books each year. There was a lot of food to eat. Some was healthy and some less healthy. My favourite was the cinnamon donuts. The School was presented with a plaque from the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) from Awards Victoria, Mr Roger McKinnon in appreciation for our enthusiasm.
