Benefits For Your Child

Participating in The Duke of Ed provides a range of benefits for your child. These include:

  • early entry into university: through our partnership with La Trobe University, Duke of Ed Awardees are rewarded with priority access to study via La Trobe’s early admissions program, Aspire. In addition, Awardees qualify for the community engagement criterion of the Aspire program.
  • education pathways and accelerated learning, including bonus ATAR points for UNSW Australia, and other state-specific study benefits.
  • access to the Duke of Ed Employer Program: this program benefits Awardees by directly recognising the skills and experience they have demonstrated through the Award, including communication, organisation, decision-making and teamwork skills. Participating employers recognise and endorse the Award through their recruitment processes for entry-level employees. A recent survey revealed that 96% of Duke of Ed Gold Awardees in Victoria increased their chance of getting a job and gained confidence to pursue their career goals.
  • international accreditation and recognition: The Duke of Ed is delivered and recognised in more than 140 countries.
  • “Before, I would only dream of what I could do; now I still dream, but I also go out and do it!”

    Sam Burdon, Gold Awardee
  • “The current environment is very challenging for young people, so it’s important they try to make themselves more attractive to employers. The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award is highly valued by business because they know it helps to develop more rounded individuals.”

HRH The Earl of Wessex, KG, GCVO, ADC Trustee
  • “I believe The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award and other programs operated by the not-for-profit Awards Victoria Ltd are vital as they focus on developing our most valuable resource, our young people, who ultimately create the future of our community.”
