Conservation Volunteers is running six Australian Alps Walking Track Maintenance Projects in 2014. Taking place across January, February, March and April, the projects give you the opportunity to fulfil the requirements of your Adventurous Journey or Residential Project, whilst making a real impact on the maintenance and usability of the Track.

Projects include track surfacing, track clearing, brushcutting and drainage installation, with activities and hiking ranging from easy to hard:

Project 1: Sun 12th Jan – Sat 18th Jan
AAWT Wallace Hut / Cope Hut area, Bogong High Plains
Grade: Easy walking but vigorous physical activity required
Award Section: Adventurous Journey (Exploration); Residential Project
Suitable for The Duke of Ed Award level: Silver, Gold

Project 2: Sun 12th Jan – Sat 18th Jan
AAWT Wallace Hut / Cope Hut area, Bogong High Plains
Grade: Easy walking but vigorous physical activity required
Award Section: Adventurous Journey (Exploration); Residential Project
Suitable for The Duke of Ed Award level: Silver, Gold

Heathy Spur (feeder track to AAWT)
Grade: Easy walking but vigorous physical activity required
Award Section: Adventurous Journey (Exploration); Residential Project
Suitable for The Duke of Ed Award level: Silver, Gold

Project 4: Sun 2nd March – Sat 8th March
Heathy Spur (feeder track to AAWT)
Grade: Medium. Very steep walking over uneven rocky ground
Award Section: Adventurous Journey (Exploration); Residential Project
Suitable for The Duke of Ed Award level: Gold

Project 5: Sun 16th March – Sat 22nd March
Heathy Spur (feeder track to AAWT)
Grade: Hard. Extremely steep walking over uneven rocky ground
Award Section: Adventurous Journey (Exploration); Residential Project
Suitable for The Duke of Ed Award level: Gold

Project 6: Sun 30th March – Sat 5th April
Heathy Spur (feeder track to AAWT)
Grade: Medium. Very steep walking over uneven rocky ground
Award Section: Adventurous Journey (Exploration); Residential Project
Suitable for The Duke of Ed Award level: Gold
