Students Participate in Le Tour de Le Tan to celebrate Dukes Week
Le Tour de Le Tan is a one-lap sponsored race around Melbourne’s iconic 3.8km Tan Track, taking place on Friday 9th August 2013.
Strathcona Baptist Girls Grammar School is one of the four schools participating in Le Tour de Le Tan and hoping to make a difference to the lives of young people. The event has attracted approximately 75 participants and school staff in total.
Organised by Awards Victoria, the event culminates Dukes Week: the annual celebration of The Duke of Ed, Compass, Bridge and Challenge Awards and the massive efforts which Participants, Coordinators and Volunteers put in every day to achieve these Awards.
Le Tour de Le Tan is not only to celebrate Dukes Week, but to raise awareness for the Awards in a fun and active way and fundraise for AFAP– a program which subsidises the cost of the Awards for young people who would otherwise not be able to afford to participate due to social and economic disadvantage.
Awards Victoria CEO, Roger McKinnon says “the most important part of the event is getting out there, having fun and being part of the celebration!”
